Gas station owners expect further fuel price increases in the coming days

How much do gasoline and diesel cost today?

There are indications that fuel prices will rise slightly in the coming days, the President of the Gas Station Owners Association, Savvas Prokopiou, told KYPE on Wednesday.

He noted that in recent days, the price of Brent crude has stabilized at just over $100.

He added that as the price of oil rises—because there are factors included in the wholesale price that are subject to quotas, such as VAT—the retail price increases even more.

Mr. Prokopiou said that a significant amount of revenue goes to the state and called on the Ministry of Finance to help vulnerable segments of the population, professionals for whom fuel is the main expense, and to double the heating oil subsidy for beneficiaries living at high altitudes, as this is feasible, he said.

According to a report by KYPE from the Consumer Protection Agency, fuel prices at refineries remain at the high levels reached in recent days and are not expected to decline.

Diesel price hits a record high of €2.126

Furthermore, according to data from the Retail Fuel Price Observatory of the Consumer Protection Service of the Ministry of Commerce, the average price of diesel fuel across Cyprus on Wednesday, October 14, stood at €2.019.

The lowest price was €1.939, while the highest reached a historic high of €2.126.

Furthermore, the average price of Unleaded 95 was €1.759, with the cheapest at €1.669 and the most expensive at €1.829.

Also, the average price of Unleaded 98 is €1,814. The cheapest is €1,738 and the most expensive is €1,999.

Finally, the average price of heating oil stood at €1.679 across Cyprus, with the cheapest at €1.529 and the most expensive at €1.769.
