Both loans and deposits in Cyprus recorded a net increase in August 2026, according to data released Friday by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC).
Specifically, total deposits in August 2026 recorded a net increase of €171.5 million, compared to a net increase of €562.3 million in July 2026.
Furthermore, the annual rate of change in total deposits reached 6.5%, compared to 6.2% in July 2026.
The total deposit balance in August 2026 reached €59.3 billion, with deposits by Cyprus residents showing an increase of €175.3 million.
More specifically, according to the CBC, deposits from non-financial corporations increased by €60.2 million, while household deposits decreased by €1.9 million. Deposits from other domestic sectors showed an overall increase of €117 million.
As for total loans, in August 2026 they recorded a net increase of €114.6 million, compared with a net decrease of €68.7 million in July 2026.
According to the CBC, the annual rate of change in total loans reached 11.8%, compared to 11.1% in July 2026.
The total loan balance in August 2026 reached €28.5 billion, with loans to Cyprus residents showing an increase of €36.5 million.
More specifically, loans to households and non-financial corporations increased by €12.6 million and €32.4 million, respectively. Loans to other domestic sectors showed an overall decrease of €8.5 million.
