The amount to be paid in 2027 as a severance bonus to those retiring from the civil service will be 12 million euros higher than this year’s amount. The amount—as included in the state budget—applies to 977 civil servants, who, according to the newspaper “Fileleftheros”—will receive lump-sum payments totaling 113.3 million euros. That is, approximately 116,000 euros each.
This year, it is estimated that the 926 employees expected to retire—either due to reaching the mandatory retirement age or early—will receive a total of 102.3 million euros in lump-sum payments.

How the funds are allocated
According to the 2027 state budget, the 113.3 million euros will be allocated as follows:
427 civil servants (€49 million), 385 teachers (€44.5 million), 55 members of the police and fire departments (€5.2 million), and a total of 110 members of the military (€13.5 million).
The remainder will be paid to employees who are retiring from government service due to their appointment to public agencies, as well as to officials of the Republic who are retiring.
