According to the President of the Republic, Nicos Christodoulides, the strong growth momentum and resilience of the Cypriot economy are highlighted by the 3.3% growth rate recorded in the second quarter of 2026, with the President noting that the economy continues on a steady growth path despite the challenges and uncertainties of the international environment.
In a written statement on GDP growth in the second quarter of 2026, President Christodoulides states that “with a growth rate of 3.3% in the second quarter of 2026, Cyprus has, for yet another quarter, recorded a performance more than three times the European average.”
“This new strong performance by the Cypriot economy confirms that our country continues to follow a steady growth trajectory, despite the challenges and uncertainties of the international environment,” he notes.

At the same time, he adds, “this confirms that the Cypriot economy possesses strong growth momentum and resilience.”
According to the President of the Republic, “the results also reflect our responsible, methodical, and prudent economic policy, which includes ongoing reforms, attracting investment, strengthening competitiveness, and leveraging our country’s comparative advantages.”
This, he continues, is “a policy that has strengthened the credibility of the Republic of Cyprus and creates greater scope for targeted policies that benefit society.”
“Always, far removed from populism and empty promises that have cost our country and the Cypriot people dearly,” he adds.
President Christodoulides further notes that this course of action “is also in line with the consistently positive assessments from international rating agencies and the strengthened confidence that investors and businesses are showing in Cyprus.”.
He also notes that “this strong growth trajectory is reflected in the labor market, with our country maintaining one of the lowest unemployment rates in the European Union.”
“Behind this progress are our local workers and businesses, whose contribution is decisive,” he emphasizes.
In conclusion, the President of the Republic states that “we are continuing with the same seriousness, responsibility, and consistency toward a stronger, more competitive, and resilient economy, with the ultimate goal of improving citizens’ daily lives and creating conditions of security for every citizen.”
