The Bank of Cyprus ranks among the world’s top banks, according to the first annual ranking “World’s Top Performing Banks 2026” by Forbes magazine, conducted in collaboration with the market research firm Statista.
The Bank ranked 19th among 102 medium-sized (Tier 4) banks worldwide and is the only Cypriot bank included on the list.
It should be noted that Bank of Cyprus was the only bank in the Greek-speaking world to participate in the Tier 4 category.
The ranking, which includes 500 banks from 89 countries, was compiled based exclusively on objective financial data.
The evaluation was based on four parameters. Specifically, it took into account profitability (30%), earnings growth and quality (20%), capital and funding resilience (25%), and asset quality and efficiency (25%). Banks were classified into six categories based on the size of their assets, so that comparisons could be made between institutions with similar characteristics.
The Bank of Cyprus was included in Tier 4 (medium-sized banks with assets between $20 billion and $50 billion).
