According to a statement from Eurogate CTL, the visit took place as part of an introductory meeting and included a tour of the facilities and a briefing, by Chief Operating Officer Alexandros Dimitriadis, on current issues facing the operating company as well as on how the container terminal operates.

It should be added that Ms. Tsolaki had the opportunity to learn about the investments that have been made, by the operating company to upgrade the terminal’s infrastructure, as well as about the projects currently underway to expand the yard and create new storage areas.

“Following the meeting, the Minister of Transportation assured Eurogate’s management that the excellent cooperation between the two parties will continue, adding that new meetings will be scheduled immediately for an in-depth discussion of the issues facing the port industry,” the statement adds.

Furthermore, in a statement, DP World Limassol noted that, during her visit, the Minister was briefed by company representatives, as well as representatives from P&O Maritime, on the activities and services they offer.

At the same time, the statement adds, she was briefed on the infrastructure, the day-to-day operations of the terminal, and the wide range of services that support commercial, maritime, and tourism activities.

The announcement continues by noting that was placed on the role of the Port of Limassol as Cyprus’s primary cruise gateway, with DP World Limassol assuring that, through the cruise terminal, “it supports the further development of the sector, while strengthening Cyprus’s position on the map of Eastern Mediterranean cruise destinations.”

The Minister toured the port area aboard a P&O Maritime tugboat, gaining firsthand insight into the maritime operations and services that ensure the safe and efficient movement of ships within the port.

“The visit also highlighted DP World Limassol’s broader contribution to the Cypriot economy and the important role of the multi-purpose terminal,” the statement notes, adding that “Serving cruise ships, general cargo vessels, and Ro-Ro ships, as well as the provision of specialized port services, strengthen Cyprus’s trade and connectivity, while also generating benefits for the economy and employment.”

In a statement, Simon Pitout, CEO of DP World Limassol, expressed his satisfaction with the visit by the Minister of Transport, noting that “the port plays a pivotal role in trade, tourism, and connecting Cyprus to the rest of the world, and we are proud of DP World Limassol’s contribution to the Cypriot economy.”

Our goal is to continue working closely with the government and our partners to further develop the Port of Limassol and the cruise industry,” he concluded in his statement.
