The reduced excise tax on heating oil is expected to take effect this coming Friday, the deputy chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, DIKO MP Chrysis Pantelidis, told CNA.
As he noted, the Finance Committee, at its meeting on Monday, October 19, decided that the proposed bill should be brought before the Plenary this coming Thursday, October 22, and that the measure should take effect immediately, that is, the very next day.
“The Committee decided to request this, but the truth is that the Minister of Finance also expressed his desire to proceed with the immediate implementation of the measure and not to wait until November,” said Mr. Pantelidis.
The measure is expected to reduce the excise tax on heating oil by 5.37 cents (6.39 cents including VAT).
