The average interest rate on household deposits in Cyprus fell to 1.27% in July 2026, while the interest rate on home loans rose to 3.24%, with both rates remaining lower than their Eurozone counterparts, according to data published on Monday by the Central Bank of Cyprus for each credit institution, with July as the reference month.
According to the data, the average interest rate on deposits from households and eurozone residents (new accounts) in euros fell to 1.27% in July 2026, down from 1.42% in June, while the corresponding figure for the euro area stood at 2.10%.
Specifically, the highest interest rate on time deposits with a maturity of up to one year from households and eurozone residents was offered in July by the National Bank of Greece at 1.62% down from 1.64% the previous month. Alpha Bank followed with 1.45%, up from 1.39% in June, while Eurobank and Societe Generale each offered 1.32%, down from 1.51% and 1.12%, respectively.
The highest corresponding deposit rate for businesses in July was offered by Ancoria Bank at 1.94%, up from 1.60% in June, and Alpha Bank at 1.66%, down from 2.05% the previous month.
Loan Interest Rates
As for the average interest rate on home purchase loans to households, eurozone residents, in euros, regardless of the initial fixation period (new business—new contracts), it rose to 3.24% from 3.18%, with the eurozone average standing at 3.54%.
Societe Generale had the highest lending rate to households in July 2026 at 3.55% (no data available for June), followed by the Bank of Cyprus at 3.37%—up from 3.28% the previous month—and OHS at 3.31%, down from 3.36%.
Furthermore, the average interest rate on loans to companies—up to one million euros—for Eurozone residents, regardless of the initial term (new projects, new contracts), stood at 4.51% in July, up from 4.16% in June.
The highest interest rate was offered by Banque SBA at 6.99%, followed by Societe Generale at 4.99% and Ancoria Bank at 4.79%.
