The Greek version of the comedy series “Camping: Another World” premieres on ALPHA Cyprus on Sunday, October 4, and airs every Sunday at 10:00 p.m. Based on the Cypriot production of ALPHA Cyprus’s “Camping” series, created by Fotis Georgidis, the show will be introduced to television audiences with its first two episodes.
What happens when a law-abiding, oppressed accountant decides to rebel? He abandons his old life and seeks refuge at a campground, taking his two children and a suitcase full of money with him. But his new reality brings him back down to earth with a bump: their new “home” is a dilapidated trailer; the campground owner, Sophocles, is an eccentric and dangerously unpredictable character, and the other residents make up the most eccentric community he has ever encountered. Things take a dramatic turn when Iordanis’s worst nightmare—his boss—traces him down.
ΣΧΕΤΙΚΑ ΑΡΘΡΑ
Welcome to “The Other World,” a secluded campground just outside Athens, where summer idleness meets comedy, well-hidden secrets, and a police mystery.
Because at “The Other World,” the harder you try to keep a secret, the harder it becomes to keep it from everyone.
What to expect in the first two episodes:
Episode 1:
Iordanis Gialamas, an indecisive husband, a peace-loving accountant, and a law-abiding citizen—abandoned by his wife, Vivi—suddenly moves with his children, Eva and Petros, to “Another World,” a secluded campground a few kilometers outside Athens. Among their meager belongings—only the bare essentials—is a bag containing six hundred thousand euros of “unclear” origin… At the campground, they are greeted by the mysterious and eccentric Sophocles, owner of “Another World.” He gives them a tour, and they go from one surprise to the next, culminating in the indescribable pigsty-cum-RV he hands over to them. And just when it seems things can’t get any worse, the one person they least want to see appears out of nowhere: Iordanis’s boss, Paris, who discovers the bag of money.
Episode 2:
Sophocles “tends to” the injured Paris at his home. As soon as he regains consciousness—unaware that he is being held captive—he declares that he will report Iordanis to the police, to whom his wife has already reported his disappearance. Meanwhile, Marianna—a “luxury escort” who lives permanently at the campground—who had a date with him the previous night, is looking for him…
