Preparations have begun, and the countdown to the new theater production “Jack and the Beanstalk” has already started.

The actors and creative team held their first read-through, taking the first substantial step toward bringing one of the most beloved classic English fairy tales to the stage.

The adaptation and direction are by Loris Loizidis, who approaches the well-known story from a different perspective, creating a production that aims to appeal not only to children but to the entire family.

The premiere is scheduled for November 14, with the production promising a world full of imagination, humor, emotion, music, interactive graphics, and animations.

The Jack We Know… But Different

At the heart of the story is, of course, Jack, the poor but courageous boy who trades his cow for some magic beans. Overnight, a giant beanstalk reaches all the way to the sky, marking the beginning of a thrilling adventure full of twists and turns.

This time, however, the fairy tale takes on a different twist and is enriched with new characters who did not appear in the classic story.

Speaking on the ALPHA Cyprus show “With Love, Christiana” with Christiana Aristotelous, Loris Loizidis explained that his goal from the start was not simply to create yet another conventional children’s play.

“I don’t consider this a children’s play. I wrote it so that I would enjoy it too, so that children could watch it with the same joy,” he said.

As he revealed, it’s based on “Jack and the Beanstalk,” but presented “in a completely different way, with a different structure, and featuring new characters that didn’t exist before.”

A Magical World on Stage

One of the elements expected to set this production apart is the way traditional theater meets modern technology. The actors will interact with interactive graphics and animations, with the visual design transporting the audience into the fairy tale’s fantastical world and making them an active part of the narrative.

Music, choreography, unique costumes, and striking visuals round out the production, which aims to preserve the magic of the story familiar to generations of children, while presenting it through a contemporary theatrical lens.
