The village of Silikou in the Limassol district is preparing to host the 1st Festival of Centennial Olive Trees, a new event dedicated to the olive tree, tradition, culture, and the living heritage of our region.
On October 3 and 4, 2026, Silikou will be filled with music, dance, food, creativity, and traditional activities, in a celebration for young and old alike.
On Saturday, October 3, the event kicks off with a special evening of music, featuring the dance troupe “Diplogefiro Trimiklini” and Virginia Fournari & Christos Olympios.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, October 4, for a live broadcast from noon to 2:00 p.m., where you can experience the pulse of the festival with Marino Konsolos and Kostas Karnakis on ALPHA radio.
The main event on Sunday begins at 3:00 p.m., with a program rich in tradition and culture.
– At 3:30 p.m., the Etous Pale group will perform tsiatista, showcasing a unique form of Cypriot oral tradition.
– 3:45 p.m., Stefanos Pelekanis will present a special live performance, followed by traditional dances by the Limassol Folklore Research Group “Oi Amathousioi.”
At the same time, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops, such as basket weaving, olive figurine making, “tsakisti” olive figurine making, and olive wreath making. For our younger friends, there will be a specially designed area with creative workshops and activities.
The festival grounds will also feature traditional dishes, tastings, olive products, and local specialties. So far, more than 30 exhibitors have registered to participate, showcasing products and creations inspired by the olive, Cypriot tradition, and local production, and registration is still open.
The Festival’s goal is to highlight the centuries-old olive trees of Silikos and the history they embody, as well as to create a new institution that will bring together people, generations, and traditions.
Admission to all events is free.
