A violent altercation in Ptolemaida, stemming from personal disputes between two men, resulted in one man being seriously injured and taken to the hospital.
The suspect who was arrested is a 35-year-old man, and the victim is a 37-year-old man who sustained stab wounds in various parts of his body.
The two men reportedly got into a heated argument over personal differences.
The violent incident took place on Monday evening (August 17) in Ptolemaida, and according to the police, the victim of the attack sustained injuries to his groin, his left leg, and his abdomen, and was immediately transported by an EKAV ambulance to the “Bodossakeio” General Hospital of Ptolemaida, where he received first aid.
The 35-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday at noon by officers from the Eordaia Crime Investigation and Prosecution Division.
He has been charged with attempted murder, a felony.
The full statement from the Hellenic Police (EL.AS.) reads as follows:
“At noon yesterday (August 18, 2026) in Ptolemaida, police officers from the Eordaia Crime Investigation and Prosecution Division arrested a 35-year-old Greek national who, the day before yesterday (August 17, 2026) had attacked a 37-year-old Greek national with a sharp object, injuring him.
A criminal case was filed against the 35-year-old for attempted murder.
Specifically, following a comprehensive evaluation of information and a thorough investigation of the incident, it emerged that the 35-year-old had an altercation (due to personal differences) with the 37-year-old in Ptolemaida and subsequently attacked him with a sharp object, injuring him in the groin, on his left leg, and in the abdomen.
The victim was transported by an EKAV ambulance to the “Bodossakeio” General Hospital of Ptolemaida, where he received first aid and remains hospitalized.
The preliminary investigation was conducted by the Eordaia Crime Investigation and Prosecution Department, while the suspect, along with the case file compiled against him, was brought before the Kozani Misdemeanor Prosecutor.
