Hellenic Train’s statement:
“Hellenic Train announces that today at 5:40 a.m., the train operator of train 1301, carrying 80 passengers (Kiato–Piraeus), noticed a person on the tracks before the Corinth station.

Following standard procedures, he activated the train’s automatic braking system and audible alarms; however, it was not possible to prevent the person from being struck.

The train remained at the scene until 6:51 a.m. so that the Fire Department, the Police, and the National Ambulance Service (EKAV) could complete the required procedures.

Due to the incident, delays and possible schedule changes are expected on the Piraeus–Kiato–Piraeus line.

Hellenic Train expresses its regret over the incident and is cooperating with the relevant authorities to investigate the causes.”
