The case of the 10-month-old infant who had suffered from asphyxia and was being airlifted from Rhodes to Athens for specialized medical care ended tragically.
According to reports, the infant died at 4:30 a.m., despite the superhuman efforts made by the medical staff.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening, when the child was rushed to Rhodes Hospital after food had blocked his airway. Doctors managed to remove the foreign object from the airway and resuscitate the child; however, the prolonged lack of oxygen had worsened his condition.
Due to the critical nature of his condition, it was decided to immediately airlift him to a hospital in Athens. Despite efforts that continued throughout the transport and after his arrival, the infant succumbed a few hours later.
