Traffic restrictions in Seich Sou and other forested areas of the Thessaloniki Metropolitan Unit went into effect today, Saturday, July 4, due to a high risk of forest fires (risk category 4), following a decision by Deputy Regional Governor Kostas Gioutikas.
The ban on pedestrians and all types of vehicles is in effect from 7:30 a.m. on Saturday until 7:30 a.m. on Sunday in the following areas:
– the section of the Thessaloniki Peri-Urban Forest (Seich-Sou) bounded by the Thessaloniki Ring Road, the Pefka–Asvestochori–Exochi provincial road, and the Thessaloniki- Panorama-Chortiatis.
-in the Oraiokastro forest area (Oraiokastro Forest Reserve).
– in the Panorama Forest Estate (from the Platanakia Forest Management Unit to the Shooting Range).
– in the Thermi forest area, specifically near the Environmental Park and the Isenli Forest Reserve.
In addition, a ban on the movement of people and vehicles is in effect in areas of the Kilkis Regional Unit, starting at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, for 24 hours due to expected adverse fire-meteorological conditions.
The traffic ban applies to the following areas
-Heroes’ Hill in the city of Kilkis.
-The reforestation area of Metalliko.
-Agios Georgios Hill in Kilkis.
-The wider area of the “Chiliwn Dendron” forest in the Municipal Unit of Mouria, Kilkis.
-The municipal grove of Axioupoli.
-The wider area of the “Skra Waterfalls – Blue Lake” in the Skra community of the Municipality of Paionia.
