Shocking video has been released showing the moment of the traffic accident involving an EKAB ambulance and a passenger car in Chania, which collided just a few meters from the city’s hospital.
In the video, the ambulance can be seen colliding with the silver car driven by a nurse from the hospital’s emergency department, who had just finished her shift, and then overturning.
The ambulance was transporting a man who had suffered a cardiac arrest, while the second paramedic was reportedly performing CPR on him when the collision occurred.
According to information from the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA), one of the paramedics suffered rib fractures, while the ambulance driver and the driver of the passenger car are in good health.
The patient being transported by the ambulance died as a result of cardiac arrest, according to the National Ambulance Service (EKAV).
The Chania Traffic Police are investigating the causes of the accident.
