A 53-year-old taxi driver was attacked by two Roma men—specifically, a father and son—in an area of Volos this morning, resulting in his hospitalization.
The incident took place outside the Taxiarchon Cemetery in Nea Ionia, where the two men attacked the driver because he allegedly refused to let the 25-year-old son get into the taxi, prompting the son to begin threatening the 53-year-old driver.
The 25-year-old then grabbed a broomstick he found and struck him with it.
The two men then threatened the driver not to press charges and fled the scene, according to gegonotanews.gr.
The 53-year-old went to the hospital, where he received first aid for a fractured wrist.
It should be noted that the perpetrators of the attack have been involved in incidents in the past, and this is reportedly why the driver refused to take them to a distant destination.
