The search for “Poppy,” a ewe adopted by animal lovers in 2022 in Tyrnavos who had been missing since October 6, came to a dramatic conclusion.
As announced by Ms. Anna Xenopoulou, who had taken care of the ewe after finding her as a lamb, the animal was found dead “on private, fenced property.”
In the same post, Ms. Xenopoulou denounced “those who were quick to jump to conclusions… No, they weren’t Roma… they weren’t poor people who were starving… They were spoiled rich kids with educated parents who think this city belongs to them.”
“The case is in the hands of the police; there are witnesses who have provided irrefutable evidence, since our Popi was found on private, fenced-in property!!!” she concludes in her post.
Cruelty in Tyrnavos: Popi, a ewe adopted when she was a lamb, was snatched and killed; animal lovers accuse “spoiled rich kids”
A few days earlier, in another post, she had shared a heart-wrenching message about the ewe’s disappearance, writing, among other things, “We love you so much, Popi, and we’re waiting for you to come back home.”
The post about the ewe in Tyrnavos
We’re all waiting for you to come back…
Dimitris and Alexandra, who raised you with so much love…
Your friend Maro and our little donkeys…
Antonakis, who loves you deep down even though you’re afraid of him…
Your food is waiting for you, always on a plate, because as the proper lady that you are, you can’t eat off the floor…
We’re all here, my girl, and we’re waiting for you…
And I hope that those who took you will find a shred of humanity within themselves and, for once in their lives, do the right thing…
We love you very much, Popi, and we’re waiting for you to come back home
