“She was a well-educated young woman and very good at everything. She had studied biology and a few other subjects; she was a well-educated young woman and was working in her field in mussel farming,” she added.
The Confession
The 25-year-old woman was murdered on Sunday night (September 20), and the 27-year-old reportedly confessed, claiming that a heated argument had preceded the incident and that they had financial disputes. The president of the Thesprotia Police Officers’ Association, Vasilis Nakos, revealed that the accused “claimed he owed the young woman some money and came to settle the debt so the dispute would end, but then she said something to him and he lost control.”
The 25-year-old woman was found a short time later, covered in blood, in a bike path shelter, unconscious, and the EKAΒ crew that arrived at the scene confirmed her death.
According to reports, the 27-year-old man and the 25-year-old woman had been in a relationship in the past, but had broken up about a month ago; authorities are now also examining the history of their relationship as part of the investigation into the events leading up to the murder.
The Initial Lie to the Police
It should be noted that the 27-year-old initially falsely claimed that, while he was on the bike path with his ex-partner, they were attacked by four individuals whose faces were covered, who then fled the scene.
Later, however, he confessed that, following their argument, he stabbed her with a pocket knife, which he then discarded as he fled the scene of the murder. A short time later, police officers managed to locate him.
The 27-year-old was found by police with chest wounds, which, according to reports, he had inflicted on himself, shortly after he had called the Operations Center of the Thesprotia Police Department.
He was initially transported by an EKAV ambulance to the Igoumenitsa Emergency Department for first aid and then to the Filiates General Hospital, where he is being treated and is out of danger.
According to reports, he will remain hospitalized today as well, since one of the wounds he inflicted on himself is more severe.
The call to the authorities was made at 9:44 p.m., five minutes after the police received the first report regarding the 25-year-old woman; at that time, the 27-year-old was unable to specify his exact location.
