The two defendants appeared before the judicial authorities after the deadline they had been given to prepare their defense. The defense attorney for the 20-year-old, Panagiotis Beskas, had requested time to review the case file and organize the defense strategy.
According to the local website argolikeseidhseis.gr, tensions ran high outside the courthouse, as relatives and friends of the victim jeered at the two defendants, shouting “murderers” as they were led into the courtroom.
The timeline of the case
The case began to unfold on July 25, when a relative of the 58-year-old reported him missing to the Nafplio Criminal Investigation Department.
For nine days, a large-scale search operation was underway, involving the Hellenic Police, the Fire Department, the Special Disaster Response Unit (EMAK), the Coast Guard, the Argolis Greek Rescue Team, and volunteers.
The search came to a tragic end on August 2, when the body of the 58-year-old man was found in a rural area of Kantia, Argolis.

According to the Greek Police, on the evening of July 24, the two defendants got into the psychologist’s vehicle and, in an area of the Municipality of Nafplio, they allegedly subdued him and fatally stabbed him. They then took his money and cell phone and fled in his car, which they abandoned a short time later on a hill near their homes.
The two men were arrested on August 2 in Attica, following a coordinated police operation with the assistance of the Organized Crime Division and the Criminal Investigation Division.
They have been charged with murder, robbery, and violation of firearms laws.
