Licensed operators are leaving Athens; more than 56,000 passengers are departing for the Cyclades

The main destination is the cool islands of the Cyclades

Athenians are flocking to the islands in droves, with more than 56,000 passengers departing on Saturday alone (August 8) from the ports of Attica to cooler destinations.

Traffic at the ports in the Athens basin has been heavy since early morning, with ferries heading mainly to the Cyclades operating at 100% capacity

According to advance bookings and data from ferry companies, 25 sailings carrying 31,392 passengers are scheduled to depart from Piraeus today, while on Sunday (August 8), 23 departures are expected, carrying 34,441 travelers.

From Rafina, there will be 14 sailings carrying 9,700 passengers today and 15 sailings carrying 7,320 passengers tomorrow. From Lavrio, eight departures are scheduled for Saturday, carrying 3,628 travelers, and 11 for Sunday (August 8), carrying 3,167.

There is also particularly high interest in travel to the Argosaronic Islands. A total of 54 passenger high-speed ferry and passenger-car ferry departures are scheduled today from Piraeus, with an estimated 11,701 passengers. On Sunday, the number of sailings will increase to 58, with an estimated 9,270 travelers.

125 ships departed on Friday

It should also be noted that on Friday (August 7), 23 ships departed from Piraeus carrying 30,009 passengers, while 60 sailings were operated in the Saronic Gulf carrying 10,545 travelers.

Twenty ships departed from Rafina, carrying 10,304 people, and 12 ships departed from Lavrio with 4,088 passengers.
