Police officers from the Narcotics Enforcement Subdivision of the Organized Crime Division dismantled a criminal organization, whose members were involved in drug trafficking on the island of Mykonos, with the police carrying out a major operation to arrest its members.
According to a statement from the Hellenic Police, the suspects were arrested early Friday morning, August 21, 2026, with the assistance of officers from the Special Operations Teams of the Intelligence and Special Operations Sub-Directorate of the Directorate of Anti-Organized Crime (DAOE), nine members of the organization were arrested, while a 22-year-old man was also arrested for drug possession.
Specifically, this operation was preceded by the effective use of intelligence regarding the aforementioned individuals’ involvement in the trafficking of various narcotics in Mykonos, and following police operations, investigations, and cross-checking of evidence, as well as the profiling of those involved, their criminal activity was confirmed.
To achieve their goal, the members of the organization had distinct roles, as follows:
– A 35-year-old man, who led and directed the criminal organization, was responsible for procuring quantities of drugs, transporting them to Mykonos, storing them in a residence—which he used as a hideout—as well as packaging the drugs and supplying them to the other members of the organization for distribution. He was also responsible for finding customers, transporting and distributing the drugs, as well as receiving and managing a portion of the profits;
– another 35-year-old man, a close associate of the ringleader, was responsible for storing and safeguarding the drugs, finding customers, and, as needed, supplying the other members of the organization with narcotics, as well as safeguarding and managing a portion of the profits,
– A 54-year-old woman was responsible for safeguarding the money derived from drug trafficking and transporting the profits from Mykonos to Athens,
– A 34-year-old man was responsible for the storage, safekeeping, transportation, and distribution of narcotics. At the same time, while working as a passenger transport driver, he exploited his professional position and his contact with tourists and visitors to the island to identify potential drug buyers;
and– a 24-year-old, a 32-year-old, a 34-year-old, a 29-year-old, and a 28-year-old—served as regional members and were primarily responsible for finding customers, likewise exploiting their professional status as drivers or escorts for passenger transport. In addition, they were responsible, as needed, for transporting and distributing the drugs, as well as for safeguarding a portion of the profits.
