Traffic has been halted on streets in central Athens, specifically on Acharnon Street, while the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (TEEM) is currently examining a suspicious object.
SKAI reports that unknown individuals threw a hand grenade—which did not explode—into a store belonging to a well-known coffee chain.
The same reports indicate that it is a defensive-type hand grenade, and Army personnel are expected to arrive to defuse it. It should be noted that the pin has been removed.
Which roads are closed
According to the authorities, traffic has been halted at the following locations:
- on Acharnon Street, from the intersection with Ioulianou Street to the intersection with Heyden Street,

These traffic restrictions will remain in effect for as long as the TEEM team continues to examine the grenade.
