The police announced that they had solved a robbery and attempted murder case that took place six months ago, in which a professional jewelry salesman was the victim.
Charges have been filed against five men (ages 40, 49, 43, 35, and 33 years old) have been indicted on charges of criminal organization, robbery, attempted murder, arson, and forgery.
According to the police investigation, the five men had formed a criminal group between December 2025 and February 2026, assuming distinct roles, with the aim of systematically committing thefts and burglaries to gain illegal financial gain.
As established, on the evening of January 29, the five men, traveling in a vehicle bearing fake license plates, took advantage of the jeweler’s brief stop at a gas station, and one of them entered the victim’s vehicle and fled.
The jeweler was grabbed through the window of the moving vehicle, and as they attempted to flee, one of the perpetrators, who was driving the vehicle, collided with a stationary vehicle, causing the victim to fall onto the road and sustain injuries.
The stolen vehicle was found burned in the Pieria region, and jewelry worth 310,000 euros, 1,500 euros in cash, a tablet, and a cell phone.
The case file also includes three Greek men (aged 23, 34, and 39) and a 20-year-old woman, who are charged with—as applicable— —offenses of harboring, receiving, and disposing of stolen property, as well as money laundering.
Further investigation by police revealed that the stolen jewelry was handed over to a Greek national and, with the assistance of another Greek national, was sold to buyers in a foreign country. Upon their entry into the country—the woman via a land border and the man by air— — a total of 256,270 euros and 11,315 Turkish lira were found in their possession and confiscated.
The case file will be submitted to the Katerini Public Prosecutor.
