A fire broke out at a hotel in Omonia shortly before noon on Sunday.
According to the Fire Department, the fire started on the ground floor, specifically in a hotel storage area, when bedding caught fire. However, it was quickly brought under control by the Fire Department.
Twenty-five firefighters rushed to the scene with seven vehicles, as well as a specialized aerial ladder truck and a ladder truck.
According to the Fire Department, the fire broke out around 11:50 a.m., and people were evacuated via the stairwell, while firefighters simultaneously searched for anyone who might be trapped.
A 41-year-old man was taken to the hospital with burns to his hands and feet as a result of the fire.
As a precaution, some residents were given oxygen after inhaling smoke.
Due to the fire, traffic was temporarily halted on 3rd September Street, from the area of Omonia Square Omonia Square to Veranzerou Street, as well as on Veranzerou Street, from Patission Street to 3rd September Street.
