In the early hours of the morning, the 27-year-old confessed to police that he had taken the life of his 25-year-old ex-partner on the Igoumenitsa bike path; who is currently being treated under guard at Filiates Hospital.
The crime, which has shocked the community of Igoumenitsa, took place last night at a kiosk along the bike path. The perpetrator, after taking the life of the unfortunate woman with multiple stab wounds, reportedly attempted to take his own life.

According to reports, the medical examiner who examined him found numerous self-inflicted wounds, mainly on the left side of his chest, near the heart. He has at least one deep wound in his left lung, and doctors performed a drainage procedure.
The young woman sustained stab wounds all over her body, including her chest and back, and has two deep wounds to her neck and one to her leg.
Initially, the 27-year-old man, who is charged with first-degree murder, told police that he and the 25-year-old woman had been attacked by unknown assailants.
The 25-year-old woman was found by a bystander, who called the police. At the same time, the self-confessed perpetrator also called the Emergency Response Unit and asked for help. However, the police quickly solved the case. The 27-year-old then showed the police officers where he had thrown the knife.
