Shocking new details have emerged regarding the case of the dead infant in Kypseli, in connection with which the following individuals have been arrested: a 43-year-old Greek man, a 38-year-old woman who claims to be German and is his partner, and a 26-year-old Afghan man. All three were located in the apartment on Thasou Street, where, during the police search, the infant’s body was found hidden.
According to the statements, the infant’s death occurred months ago, and since then they had been taking the body with them everywhere, keeping it in a special airtight, refrigerated container, until they decided on a burial site.
They hid the infant’s remains in the freezer for two years
According to ERT, citing the 43-year-old’s testimony, they hid the baby’s remains in the freezer for about two years.
The 43-year-old reportedly claimed in his testimony that he did not proceed with the child’s burial because he feared the case would be exposed and social services would take away his other children. “I didn’t have the strength to bury him, as I was afraid the case would come to light and social services would take my other children away from me,” he reportedly told the police.

He claimed that the infant had been born at a maternity hospital in Athens, but maintained that at birth they were given another child, whom he described as “possessed.” “The baby cried constantly, and my wife was devastated. They switched the baby at the maternity hospital and gave us another one that was ‘possessed by the devil,’ and as soon as it died, our home found peace,” he reportedly told the police.
According to his account, when the infant died of natural causes, he decided to place the body in the freezer, where it remained for a long time.
The infant’s body was stabbed more than 10 times
The findings of the forensic examination, which was completed late Monday afternoon, contradict the 43-year-old’s claims. According to the report, the lifeless body of the deceased infant bears multiple stab wounds, confirming the crime and the agonizing death the infant endured. Based on the evidence available so far, the infant, approximately eight to nine months old, had more than ten wounds from a sharp object, mainly on the back, while some of them are believed to have been fatal.
Police spokeswoman Konstantia Dimoglidou, confirmed that there were more than ten stab wounds and described the case involving the dead infant in Kypseli as unprecedented in Greece.
Ms. Dimoglidou also stated that the parents have not yet provided any information explaining the circumstances of the infant’s death, nor have they accepted any possibility of a criminal act, despite the findings of the forensic examination.

Authorities are now trying to determine who inflicted the wounds, whether more than one person was involved, and exactly what happened before the infant’s death. At the same time, because the body had been kept in a refrigerated environment for a long period of time, the exact time of death is particularly difficult to determine.
Ms. Demoglidou also noted that investigators are looking into reports that the children had previously been the subject of inquiries by social services or prosecutorial authorities. However, as she clarified, police records do not currently indicate any involvement of the parents in criminal cases.
At the same time, particular emphasis is being placed on the evaluation of the three minors by child psychologists and child psychiatrists. According to Ms. Dimoglou, this process may yield crucial evidence regarding both the infant’s death and the children’s living conditions.
Investigations into the death of the infant in Kypseli are in full swing
The 38-year-old woman among those arrested reportedly initially claimed that the infant was hers and that she had lost the child, a claim that police treated with skepticism from the outset.
Investigators are now attempting to verify even the identity of the infant’s mother, as well as when and under what circumstances the child was born.
At the same time, authorities are examining the role of the 26-year-old Afghan man, who was identified as the 15-year-old girl’s boyfriend. He is reportedly known to the authorities as a hard-drug dealer in central Athens. According to reports, the 43-year-old man and the 38-year-old woman are both drug users, as is the 15-year-old girl.
The results of the ongoing laboratory tests, including DNA tests, are considered critical. The results are expected to help identify the child and investigate her relationship with the individuals currently under investigation by the authorities.
At the same time, digital evidence seized from the apartment is being examined by the Criminal Investigation Division, while police authorities are investigating any potential offenses against minors.
“There is digital evidence currently being examined by the Criminal Investigation Division, as we need to determine whether the parents have committed any offenses against their minor children,” Ms. Dimoglidou noted.
Statements from the individuals involved and those with knowledge of the events are expected to help clarify the circumstances under which the infant lost his life and remained hidden for such along period of time.
Abusive Environment
Of particular importance is the information regarding the family’s other three children: the 15-year-old girl, who is pregnant, the 12-year-old, and the 9-year-old boy. All three children had been hospitalized, and following the prosecutor’s intervention, custody of them had been taken away from their parents. According to the same reports, the father allegedly removed them illegally from the hospital at that time, as there was no police guard on duty.
According to reports, forensic examinations found no evidence of sexual abuse in the two boys. However, it was determined that the 9-year-old boy and the 15-year-old girl, who is pregnant, have syphilis and are already undergoing the prescribed treatment.
The two boys remain at Agia Sofia Children’s Hospital, while the 15-year-old pregnant girl was transferred to Alexandra Hospital for obstetric and gynecological evaluation.
DNA tests will be conducted on the children and the deceased infant to determine who their parents are.
Narcotics, cameras, computers, and sex toys, while neighbors confirmed that there was intense and unusual activity, with children wandering around unaccompanied late at night.
Criminal charges have been filed against the three arrested individuals for a felony involving drug trafficking and a misdemeanor for failing to report the discovery of a dead body. The defendants were brought before an investigating judge and requested a postponement to prepare their defense. Their request was granted, and they will return on the morning of Wednesday, September 2, to the courthouse at the former Evelpidon Academy, where at 10:00 a.m. they will be brought before the investigating judge to present their defense.
It is possible that the charges could be upgraded as the main investigation into the infant’s murder continues. Once the police investigation is complete and all evidence has been submitted, the case file is expected to be forwarded to the prosecuting authorities so that the prescribed criminal proceedings can proceed regarding this aspect of the criminal act as well.
