A man in Rodopi stabbed and killed his wife and then attempted to take his own life by drinking kerosene.
According to initial reports, the couple is of Albanian origin and has three children—two adults and one minor, aged 16. One of the couple’s children called the authorities, as the crime took place inside their home in the village of Dialambi.
After the 44-year-old woman was murdered, the 53-year-old man drank kerosene in an attempt to commit suicide. He was taken to the hospital, where he remains under medical care.
Police have recovered two knives from the scene, which will be examined as part of the investigation.
According to the same reports, an incident involving the couple was recorded in 2022 in Heraklion, Crete. At that time, the woman had filed a complaint against her husband for making threats.
The man was arrested in connection with the case and brought before the competent prosecutor.
