New details regarding the search conducted at the home of Giorgos Mazonakis, as well as regarding the safe seized by the authorities, were provided on the morning of Friday, September 18, by Hellenic Police spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglidou.
Speaking to Mega, Ms. Dimoglidou noted that developments following the singer’s death unfolded particularly quickly due to his high profile, to the point that the hospital doctors had not yet had time to notify the police.
Referring specifically to the search conducted at his home and the fate of the safe, she stated: “During the search of the residence (of George Mazonakis), which is being conducted in the presence of a prosecutor, the safe was also seized. From there on, in consultation with the relevant prosecutor’s office, it will either be opened or handed over.”

According to the Hellenic Police spokesperson, the decision to search the singer’s residence was made in order to determine whether there was any evidence on the premises that could be linked to the investigation into the circumstances of his death.
Konstantia Dimoglidou further clarified that victims’ personal belongings—such as, in this case, the safe— are handed over by police officers to the competent authority, after which a decision is made regarding their further handling.
At the same time, the forensic report has not yet been completed, as test results deemed necessary for its completion are still pending.
“We still don’t have a forensic report. We’ll have to wait for the results of the toxicological and histological tests before it can be completed,” he emphasized.

“The fact that we managed to decrypt the machine’s operation will be very helpful.”
