The Hellenic Police’s investigation into the murder of the minor, which occurred on Wednesday night (June 24) in Kallithea, with authorities now examining new evidence that may link the case to a previous incident in which a minor was injured in the same area.
At the same time, the initial theory of a fan brawl is being ruled out, while police have already made arrests and identified the victim, just 15 years old, who had previously come to the attention of the authorities after being found in possession of knives and brass knuckles.
Meanwhile, police are examining information regarding a previous incident in Kallithea, during which a 16-year-old was injured a few days earlier, although no complaint was filed and no official report was made. This minor is not among those taken into custody in the current case; however, the authorities are investigating whether the new incident is related to that injury and whether there may have been acts of retaliation that led to a new clash in the area.
According to the evidence gathered, the murder victim was reportedly inside a vehicle that arrived at the scene of the clash later on. Authorities are examining this detail, as it may indicate a different course of events than initially assessed.
Another crucial development involves the suspect, who was arrested by police at his home early Thursday morning around 3:00 a.m. Shortly thereafter, he reportedly confessed to the crime, while his mother, according to reports, was in a state of shock when she saw the police officers proceeding to arrest him.
The Timeline
It is recalled that the victim was stabbed in the chest during a bloody altercation that took place in front of an apartment building on Megaloupoleos Street.
Police officers found a knife at the scene but, according to the suspect, it was not the murder weapon because, as he said, he threw it into a trash can after the altercation.
An EKAB ambulance rushed to the scene, picked him up, and transported him in serious condition to “Ippokratio,” where, despite the doctors’ efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
Thirteen people have been taken in for questioning in connection with the case, four of whom are expected to be formally arrested.
