Rapid developments in the death of Giorgos Mazonakis: The blood draw had begun when he suffered a cardiac arrest; here’s what the Hellenic Police found

A twist in the story so far
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Developments in the case of Giorgos Mazonakis’s death are unfolding rapidly. At this moment, the two doctors—at whose private clinic the singer took his last breath—are once again at the Athens Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes.

The two doctors will remain at the police station, while the officers handling the case are expected to contact the prosecutor in charge, in order to provide him with a detailed report on the evidence gathered and to receive instructions on the next steps.

In the coming hours, the situation may change dramatically for them, as the new evidence is incriminating.

A team from the Hellenic Police’s Economic Crime Division visited the private clinic, where a large amount of digital evidence was seized. An on-site inspection was conducted, and they determined that the machine used for the medical procedure of plasmapheresis had been used. This contradicts what the doctor had said yesterday—namely, that the medical procedure had not begun and that everything happened while intravenous catheters were being inserted into Mazonakis.

The sisters of the late singer, Maria and Vasso, also went to the police station.

Earlier, the Hellenic Police conducted a search of the couple’s home in Psychiko.

At the same time, security camera footage revealed a significant discrepancy between the time the doctors stated the singer went to the clinic and the time he arrived in Kolonaki. Mazonakis appears to have entered the premises shortly after 1:00 p.m. and not at 4:00 p.m., as the doctors had testified.

Finally, the folk singer had a bandage on his head. According to the statements given by both the doctor and the employee, he told them, “I got dizzy and fell down the stairs as I was leaving the house.”

The DEE task force will investigate all digital evidence to determine whether anyone attempted to destroy evidence following Mazonakis’s death.

This was followed by a search by the Hellenic Police at Giorgos Mazonakis’s home in Panorama, Voula.

Officers from the Greek “FBI” seized four folders and a bag containing evidence from the clinic in Kolonaki.

It should be noted that shortly before 4:00 p.m., officers from the Greek "FBI" left the private clinic on Karneadou Street in Kolonaki, where Giorgos Mazonakis lost his life, shortly before 4:00 p.m.

The collected material was loaded into Hellenic Police vehicles parked outside the building and is to be transported to the relevant agencies and laboratories to be examined as part of the investigation into the clinic’s operating conditions.

The primary objective of the investigation is to determine whether the clinic had all the required licenses, whether its equipment met legal requirements, and whether any violations have been identified that could lead to criminal prosecution.

An official from the Criminal Investigations Directorate also visited the clinic.
