A dog was found seriously injured after being shot with a hunting carbine in the yard of a residence in Kryoneri, Kalavryta; prompting the family that owns the animal to contact the authorities and request that the person or persons responsible be identified.
The incident occurred while the family was in the area on vacation. In fact, at the time of the shooting, the family’s daughter was in roughly the same area, a fact that raises further concern given that the gun was fired inside a home’s yard.
Immediately after being injured, the dog was taken to a veterinarian, where examinations revealed the extent of its injuries. A total of 45 pellets were found in the animal’s body.
Of these, according to the veterinarian’s findings, 15 were located in the spinal column area and another three in the thoracic cavity.
Following the incident, the family filed a criminal complaint against anyone responsible, and an investigation has already begun to determine who shot the dog and under what circumstances.
As part of the investigation, video footage from the area is being examined; it is in the possession of the relevant authorities and may help identify the perpetrator or perpetrators.
The investigation is ongoing in order to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible.
