With thousands of friends and fans flocking to the Holy Church of the Holy Trinity in Nikaia since yesterday afternoon, at noon today the curtain falls with a final farewell to the people’s favorite, the artist with countless hits, Giorgos Mazonakis.
The public viewing concluded a few minutes ago, and at 1:00 p.m. the funeral service will begin—which will be open to the public—followed by the burial at the Third Cemetery in a private family ceremony.

Fans are laying flowers, while songs by the artist play in the courtyard, and they say their final “goodbye” by even dancing the zeibekiko in the streets outside the church.

A massive crowd filled the streets of Nikaia from early Sunday afternoon, as thousands of Giorgos Mazonakis’s fans sang the artist’s greatest hits.
The crowds continued into the early hours of Monday morning, with wreaths “flooding” the church courtyard.
There were waves of emotion at the Holy Trinity Church in Nikaia when the great singer’s body arrived at the church, with thousands of people welcoming him with prolonged applause, songs, and by throwing flowers.
When the body reached the church entrance, the crowd shouted “immortal” in honor of the singer.
