“Let me reiterate that Greece unreservedly supports the sovereignty, independence, and unity of Lebanon. We attach particular importance to preserving Lebanon’s multicultural character and protecting its Christian communities. Our position is clear. A strong state is a prerequisite for a strong Lebanon, with a central government that will safeguard the security of all citizens. I would like to express our unwavering support for your initiatives, and I welcome your decision to invest in diplomacy and direct dialogue with Israel through U.S.. Greece stands ready to support every effort toward de-escalation,” Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized.
“Your country will remain high on both the Greek and European agendas. The EU has stated that it will launch the procedures for establishing a partnership with Lebanon, and we will seek to have the relevant discussions begin during the Greek Presidency. We will continue to work for stability and the protection of your sovereignty. “We attach particular importance to the Lebanese Armed Forces as the cornerstone of Lebanon’s security,” the Prime Minister continued.
“Our solidarity is not limited to words. The Greek Armed Forces stand by your side, and we are prepared to support you even further,” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The Prime Minister also noted, among other things, that ensuring security is not enough on its own and that Greece is committed to the effort to rebuild Lebanon.
“There are significant opportunities for attracting investment and boosting trade,” he added, referring to “our shared vision of transforming the Eastern Mediterranean from a region of tension into a peaceful space of cooperation and connectivity.”
“Greece believes in energy bridges and shared infrastructure that bring together not only the countries of the region but the Eastern Mediterranean as a whole with Europe. Lebanon must play a central role, with decisions made by its institutions in the best interests of its people. “We are brotherly peoples, and today we are called upon to breathe new life into this centuries-old coexistence with an eye toward the future,” the prime minister emphasized.
