A tragedy with two fatalities occurred this morning in a traffic accident in Serres on the Drama–Amphipolis National Highway near Paleokomi, Serres.
According to information from neaserres.gr, a truck collided with a passenger car under circumstances that have not yet been clarified.
As a result of the violent collision, two people—a mother and her son—lost their lives in the accident, which occurred at 7:30 a.m. on the Drama–Amphipolis National Highway.
Initial reports indicate that a 24-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman—his mother—both Albanian nationals, were pulled from the car, already deceased.
The 56-year-old truck driver was injured and transported by an EKAB ambulance to the General Hospital of Drama, where he is being treated.

A large contingent of Greek police, two fire trucks, and EKAB crews, who worked to extricate the occupants and manage the incident.
Traffic in the area was temporarily disrupted, while police authorities are conducting a preliminary investigation to determine the exact causes and circumstances under which the fatal head-on collision occurred.
