A 34-year-old British citizen died after being found in distress yesterday afternoon in the waters near Marathonesi, in Laganas, Zakynthos.
The Zakynthos Port Authority was notified of the incident, and the 34-year-old was brought ashore with the help of swimmers. There, he received first aid and CPR was administered.

Subsequently, he was picked up by a patrol boat of the Hellenic Coast Guard, which was in the area as part of a scheduled patrol, and transported to the small port of Agios Sostis. He was then transported to the General Hospital of Zakynthos, where he was pronounced dead.
The Zakynthos Port Authority is conducting a preliminary investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
