A traffic accident that occurred last Saturday afternoon (July 18) on Leros, claiming the life of an 80-year-old man and seriously injuring his 77-year-old wife, who was riding with him on the moped.

According to information released by the police, the accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the area near Lakkí. Under circumstances that are under investigation, a pickup truck driven by a 69-year-old man collided with the moped ridden by the 80-year-old man, on which his wife was a passenger.

As a result of the violent collision, the 80-year-old driver of the moped was fatally injured, while the 77-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The exact causes and circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the Leros Police Department, which is conducting the preliminary inquiry.
