Another nurse testified as a witness before the investigating judge in the case of Giorgos Mazonakis’s death, shedding new light on the singer’s final hours, as the doctor told her husband that “Mazonakis is not doing well”.
The witness, a 53-year-old nurse, had been working at the private clinic on Karneadou Street for the past year and a half and had not previously testified during the preliminary investigation because she had not been summoned.
In her testimony, the witness stated that she was at the clinic while the singer was undergoing plasmapheresis, and specifically stated: “I was in the area and kept going in and out of the room where the plasmapheresis was taking place. I went into the room where Giorgos Mazonakis was twice to assist the doctor over the course of half an hour. Another nurse would come in with me, and we helped the singer with procedural matters. It’s something all of us did on a daily basis.

At the beginning of his treatment, George Mazonakis was functional and doing well, but the next few times I entered the room, he didn’t seem the same. But I couldn’t tell that something was wrong with him. When the incident occurred, the doctor went to her husband and said, “Mazonakis isn’t well,” and that’s when panic set in.”
This witness also referred to the panic that ensued, emphasizing that “when the incident occurred, panic broke out. The ambulance arrived, and we were surprised because none of the doctors accompanied Giorgos Mazonakis to the hospital.”

Like her colleagues, the witness said they learned from the internet what had happened to the singer. “We exchanged messages with one another, asking if we would be going to work the next day. We hadn’t realized what had happened,” she stated in her testimony.
