New evidence is emerging in the judicial investigation into the death of Giorgos Mazonakis at the private clinic on Karneadou Street in Kolonaki.
Authorities are examining employee statements, digital data, and the operation of the plasma exchange machine in order to clarify the circumstances under which the singer lost consciousness and died.
Meanwhile, the two doctors accused of intentional homicide with possible malice by omission in connection with the death of the popular singer have been taken to Korydallos Prison, though they are contesting the decision to remand them in custody and are expected to appeal it.

The male doctor, who ended his hunger and thirst strike (which lasted 24 hours), is being held under protective custody. His wife, who is also a defendant in the case, is being held separately in the women’s wing.
“The female inmates don’t even want to see her,” the doctor said
According to information reported by Star, the male doctor reportedly stated: “I never had Giorgos Mazonakis as a patient; I don’t know why I’m here.” “It was only a matter of time before Giorgos Mazonakis ‘left’; the question is, who would the bomb explode on?” he reportedly said, provocatively.
His wife’s reaction was different; according to Star, she didn’t seem particularly calm.
The doctor went through the interview process with the warden and the chief guard and was briefed on how the prison operates.

The 55-year-old doctor, who had performed the bloodletting, is under protective custody along with women accused of child abuse.
She will be allowed yard time exclusively with them, as, according to the report, the atmosphere in the women’s prison is particularly tense. In fact, it is reported that the other inmates “don’t even want to see her.”
Enhanced Security Measures
A top priority for prison authorities is to ensure the smooth operation of the prison, as well as the physical safety of the two inmates, as the atmosphere is described as tense.
Giorgos Mazonakis was particularly well-liked at Korydallos Prison. In 2023, he had performed a concert in the women’s wing, where he had developed a personal and emotional bond with the female inmates.
For their protection, the two doctors will be allowed out into the yard separately, under increased supervision, and will remain in areas with controlled access.
Their financial affairs are also under investigation
At the same time, the investigation into the two doctors’ assets is expanding, with authorities examining any indications of money laundering.
If relevant evidence is found, the Authority is expected to immediately proceed with the seizure of their movable and immovable property and forward the relevant case file to the competent prosecutor.
As part of the investigation, a hypnotherapist—with whom Giorgos Mazonakis had a scheduled appointment on the day of his death—is also expected to testify.
Focus on the employees’ cell phones
According to reports, the authorities are seeking to examine the cell phones of the clinic’s employees; however, the process is reportedly delayed because a supplementary order from the prosecutor’s office has not yet been issued.
By examining the devices, authorities expect to investigate the communications of the individuals involved during the critical time period. Specifically, the authorities want to determine with whom the accused doctor communicated, as well as what actions the second doctor took and what conversations he had.
The latter reportedly claims that he was informed of Giorgos Mazonakis’s collapse after 4:00 p.m., just a few minutes before the call to EKAΒ, citing his presence at another appointment.
Meanwhile, the authorities have managed to decipher how the blood-thinning machine works, while the results of the toxicological and histological tests are pending, as is the completion of the forensic investigation.
The secretary’s testimony regarding Mazonakis’s arrival
Of particular interest is the testimony of the 58-year-old doctor’s secretary, who described to the authorities what she claims to know about the day of the incident.
The witness stated that George Mazonakis arrived at the clinic between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. As she reported, she greeted him and then left the premises between approximately 3:18 p.m. and 3:25 p.m.
According to her testimony, the atmosphere remained calm until the moment she left, while the 58-year-old doctor was lying on the living room sofa, waiting for his next appointment.
She stated that she knew the singer had a scheduled appointment at the clinic and mentioned that she had visited the clinic in the past.
“We would delete the appointments at the end of the day”
In her testimony, the secretary also described how patient appointments were recorded.
As she explained, the handwritten lists were erased at the end of each day, since the patients’ information remained stored in the electrophysiology testing machine.
According to her, the system recorded information such as the patients’ full names, dates of birth, phone numbers, heights, and weights. As she stated, no corresponding secondary record was kept.
“The machine wasn’t hidden”
The secretary also claimed that the machine used in the clinic was not hidden and that there was a website through which it was displayed.
“The machine was by no means hidden,” she reportedly said, adding that there had also been an inspection of the premises, which she happened to be present for.
She clarified, however, that she was unaware of the details of what took place during the process, as she had no role in operating the equipment.
Cleaning the area
Another employee at the clinic stated that the hemodialysis machine was operated exclusively by the 55-year-old doctor.
As she described, the staff did not touch the equipment and were engaged in auxiliary tasks, such as changing sheets and tidying up the room.
She referred to the moments of panic that followed the singer’s collapse, claiming that the employees experienced intense anxiety and were unable to recall all their actions with precision.
The secretary also described as “very strange” the fact that the venue was cleaned up after the arrival of the ambulance service and the transport of Giorgos Mazonakis. According to her, this may have been done either automatically, due to the confusion at the time, or following orders from the doctors.
