Giorgos Mazonakis died of a heart attack at the age of 54. His death was confirmed at Elpis Hospital, where he was taken on Wednesday afternoon.
The call to the National Ambulance Service (EKAV) was made from a private medical clinic in Kolonaki, where Giorgos Mazonakis had gone. According to information provided by the clinic to the EKAB call center, the singer had suffered a cardiac arrest. An EKAV paramedic rushed to the scene on a motorcycle and immediately began CPR.

Within minutes, he was picked up by an ambulance that transported him to Elpis Hospital, which was the nearest hospital on call. CPR was continued in the emergency room, but the efforts were unsuccessful. The doctors pronounced him dead.
According to the information available so far, the 54-year-old singer had gone to the private clinic to undergo a scheduled plasmapheresis treatment. As soon as the IV catheter was inserted, he suffered a cardiac arrest.

Giorgos Mazonakis was one of the most popular singers of his generation. He was born in March 1972 in Nikaia and made his recording debut in 1992, at the age of just 20.
