This applies to six regional units
ALPHANEWSLIVE

New financial aid totaling 4.143,954 euros is being made available to alfalfa (perennial clover) growers affected by the restrictive measures to combat sheep and goat pox, with the measure being extended to six additional Regional Units.

As announced by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, producers in the Regional Units of Ilia, Thessaloniki, Kilkis, Pella, Fthiotida, and Florina, following the amendment of the relevant Joint Ministerial Decision.

Eligible producers will be able to submit their applications and affidavits electronically via the myBusinessSupport platform from September 10 to 18, 2026, with payment of the aid expected to be completed by September 30, 2026.

The measure addresses the economic impact caused by restrictions on the movement of animal feed, which were implemented as part of biosecurity measures to limit the spread of the animal disease.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food, with the expansion of the measure, the aid now covers 22 Regional Units, as sheep and goat pox and the measures to contain it have affected a significant portion of the productive activity related to livestock farming and animal feed production.

The amount of aid for alfalfa producers is set at 10 euros per stremma for dryland crops and 20 euros per stremma for irrigated crops.
