The three defendants in the horrific Kypseli case were sent to prison today after appearing before the presiding drug investigator. They are a 43-year-old Greek man, his 38-year-old German partner, and a 26-year-old Afghan man, who were arrested at the apartment on Thasou Street in Kypseli, where authorities also discovered the frozen infant in a container inside a suitcase.
The three defendants appeared before the courts at the former Evelpidon Military Academy to face charges related to drug trafficking and failure to report the discovery of a dead body. Immediately afterward, all three were taken to prison, with the prosecutor’s consent. All of this occurred while, at the same time, the prosecutor’s office was bringing criminal charges against the first two defendants—namely, the 43-year-old Greek man and the 38-year-old German woman— — for the murder of the unfortunate infant. This is a new case file that will once again bring the three defendants before the courts tomorrow to present new defenses.
The allegations
“I deny the charges; I did not commit the crimes of which I am accused. I am innocent. The drugs were for my own use. I appeal to the leniency of the Greek justice system,” the 38-year-old German woman reportedly claimed today before the investigating judge. When asked about the dead infant that authorities found in a suitcase inside the apartment where she was living with hertwo co-defendants, she reportedly replied: “I wanted to always have my child with me; I couldn’t accept his death.” She also reportedly stated that she was addicted to drugs and requested that a relevant expert evaluation be conducted.

For his part, the 43-year-old defendant and her partner reportedly claimed: “I deny the charge of drug trafficking. I am a drug addict; I request to undergo the relevant examination.” Finally, the 26-year-old Afghan, during his own testimony before the investigating judge, stated that he knew nothing about the dead infant. “I looked after the children three times a week. I know nothing about the dead child. I hadn’t seen any money in the house,” he reportedly claimed, among other things.
Murder
Meanwhile, the Athens Public Prosecutor’s Office has filed criminal charges for the murder of the infant found inside the suitcase against the 43-year-old man and his 38-year-old German partner.
Specifically, the two defendants have been charged with premeditated homicide of a family member as accomplices, possession and use of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition as accomplices, and making false statements on multiple occasions and on a single occasion. Criminal charges were also brought against the 26-year-old Afghan man who was also living in the Kypseli home and is alleged to have had a relationship with the 38-year-old woman’s underage daughter, who is pregnant.

Specifically, the 26-year-old is charged with sexual acts with a person under the age of 12 and after the age of 12, as well as with making a false statement and possession of ammunition. The three defendants facing these new charges will appear in court again, and arrest warrants were just issued against them (this is a standard procedure), and they are expected to appear before an investigating judge again tomorrow.
New revelations about the 43-year-old
At the same time, new details about the 43-year-old’s criminal history are coming to light, as he is reportedly also implicated in a new, second case of pimping and rape that took place between 2020 and 2021. The case file in question was initially compiled by the Northern Greece Public Prosecutor’s Office and was transferred in 2025 to the Athens Public Prosecutor’s Office for First Instance, where a preliminary investigation is still ongoing. It should be noted that the 43-year-old—as has been reported—had also been charged in another case involving pimping and the rape of a German citizen. In fact, he had been remanded in custody for that case but was subsequently released after the case was dismissed because the woman withdrew her initial complaint.
