“The doctor was and is a celebrity among the wealthy. He would say it over and over again—that he was second only to God,” revealed a patient about Ilias Theodoropoulos, owner of the Stem Cell clinic on Karneadou Street, where Giorgos Mazonakis suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
A witness who spoke on the SKAI TV program “Report at 10” on SKAI, described how the doctor recommended that a woman suffering from aggressive breast cancer undergo a colon cleanse and take vitamins.
She described a doctor who was particularly skeptical of established medical practices, yet who reportedly expressed great confidence in his own methods. In fact, he kept repeating the phrase “God first, then me,” intending, as the woman claims, to bolster his patients’ confidence in the treatments he recommended.
As she said, for the treatment he recommended to her, he asked for a particularly high sum of money, in the range of 3,000 euros. At the same time, the doctor claimed that even simple colon cleanses could effectively contribute to the complete treatment of cancer.
As his wife reveals, he recommended that she take more than 50 vitamins a day, at a cost that was prohibitive.
“The doctor was and is a celebrity among the wealthy. He said it over and over again—that he is second only to God,” his wife emphasized.
The case remains fully underway, with the relevant authorities examining every available piece of evidence in order to clarify the circumstances leading up to the death of Giorgos Mazonakis.
