Two months after his serious health scare, Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister George Mylonakis returned to Evangelismos Hospital, not as a patient but to publicly express his gratitude to the doctors, nurses, paramedics, support staff, and administration who stood by him during his hospitalization.
In a social media post, he also thanks his family, his friends, and everyone who supported him with a prayer, a message, or a kind thought, emphasizing that “some battles aren’t won by one person alone. They’re won together.” At the same time, he emphasizes that health is the most precious gift and concludes that today he feels nothing but deep gratitude.
Here is his post in full:
“Two months ago, I was fighting the hardest battle of my life.
Today I’m returning to Evangelismos Hospital—not as a patient, but to say a big ‘thank you’ from the bottom of my heart to the people who stood by me. To the doctors, the nurses, the paramedics, the support staff, and the hospital administration. To all those who, every day, quietly, selflessly, and with dedication, give their very best for every person who walks through the hospital’s doors.
Science saves lives. Humanity, empathy, and solidarity, however, are what give us the courage to overcome difficult moments and find the strength to carry on.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who stood by me on this difficult journey.
I also want to thank my family from the bottom of my heart for standing by me with love, strength, and tireless support every step of the way through this ordeal. I also thank my friends and everyone who supported me with a prayer, a message, or a kind thought. That love gave me the strength to carry on.
Some battles cannot be won by one person alone. They are won together.
Health is the most precious gift, and nothing should be taken for granted.
Today, I feel nothing but gratitude.
Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.”
