Police officers from the Crime Prevention and Suppression Unit (O.P.K.E.) of the Sub-Directorate proceeded to arrest a Greek national, officers from the Crime Prevention and Suppression Unit (O.P.K.E.) of the Samos Sub-Directorate for Crime Prosecution and Investigation, in the Chora area of Samos.
The man is accused of violating weapons laws, and charges have also been filed against him for counterfeiting currency and other means of payment.
According to the police, the arrest followed a search of a private passenger vehicle driven by the suspect. During the inspection, 18 counterfeit banknotes were found and seized inside the vehicle.
This was followed by a search of the suspect’s residence in the wider Pythagoreio area. There, police officers found and seized a folding “butterfly” knife, as well as 590 euros in cash.
As part of the investigation, the private vehicle used by the suspect and a cell phone were also seized.
The Pythagoreio Police Department on Samos assisted with the case, while the preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Samos Sub-Directorate for Crime Prevention and Investigation.
