The Civil Protection Agency of the Municipality of Rhodes, as well as the Regional and Fire Department units, as the Dodecanese are on “orange” alert due to the possibility of heavy rains and thunderstorms.
As the Deputy Mayor for Civil Protection of the Municipality of Rhodes, Michalis Thomatos, told the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency, the early morning rainfall—which was particularly heavy in some areas both in the city of Rhodes and elsewhere on the island—did not cause any problems.

Municipal services, however, remain on full alert, and Civil Protection outposts have also been activated. Civil Protection personnel are conducting patrols at various locations across the island, checking, among other things, drainage wells and areas where heavy rainfall could cause problems.
Speaking to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA), Mr. Thomatos noted that special attention is also being paid to the electrical activity that accompanies thunderstorms.
As he explained, lightning poses an additional risk, as it can cause fires, particularly in forested and rural areas. For this reason, Civil Protection officials will be stationed in various areas of the island and will conduct continuous monitoring for as long as the severe weather conditions persist.
