The 35 foreign nationals who were aboard a small boat were transferred to a temporary shelter on Gavdos

The vehicle was impounded

Late yesterday evening, the Chania Port Authority was notified to provide assistance to a small boat carrying foreign nationals in distress in the sea area west-southwest of Gavdos.

Immediately, a Coast Guard patrol boat (PLS) was dispatched to the scene, where it located the boat and rescued thirty-five foreign nationals (30 men, 4 women, and 1 minor).

The rescued individuals were safely transported to the port of “KARAVE” and subsequently taken to a temporary shelter operated by the Municipality of Gavdos. The Central Port Authority of Chania, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, seized the vessel.
