New chilling details are coming to light about the heinous crime in which a 53-year-old man stabbed and killed his 43-year-old wife today, Wednesday (August 26) in Rodopi.
The perpetrator killed his wife using two knives, stabbing her in the neck and all over her body.

As it turns out, the brutal crime took place in front of their three children, and it was actually the family’s eldest daughter who called the police, saying “Come quickly, Dad killed my mom.”
The woman was taken by her son to the General Hospital of Komotini, but she had already passed away. According to information from xronos.gr, the most serious injury was to her neck.
The crime took place on the birthday of the couple’s minor daughter; the couple, who are of Albanian origin, had been separated. The 43-year-old woman, who had been working in Thasos over the summer, returned to the village so they could all celebrate together.
According to the police, another incident of domestic violence had been reported in 2022 in Heraklion, Crete—where the couple was living at the time—and the perpetrator had been arrested.
According to a police statement, the 53-year-old man, after fatally injuring his wife, allegedly injured himself and was taken to a hospital, where he is being treated under guard.

Foreign national arrested for the murder of his wife
A foreign national was arrested at noon today (August 26, 2026) in a village in Rodopi; he is accused of the homicide of his wife.
The Komotini Crime Investigation and Prosecution Department has filed charges against the suspect for premeditated murder, domestic violence, and violation of the Weapons Act.
Specifically, around noon today (August 26, 2026), a foreign national was found by a relative inside her home in a village in Rodopi, suffering a wound from a sharp object, and was transported to the Komotini hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police immediately launched a coordinated investigation and searched the crime scene, resulting in the arrest of her husband, also a foreign national, who is alleged to have stabbed her with a knife and then injured himself. The alleged perpetrator was transported by an EKAB ambulance to a hospital, where he is being treated under guard.
It should be noted that in 2022 in Heraklion, Crete, the alleged perpetrator had been arrested on the spot for domestic threats against the victim.
Two knives were seized from the scene.
The preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Komotini Crime Prosecution and Investigation Department.
