The Athens Security Sub-Directorate has been tasked with investigating the death of Giorgos Mazonakis and compiling the case file. The Organized Crime Division (the Greek FBI) is also expected to assist in the investigation to determine whether any criminal acts were committed.
As part of the investigation, statements are expected to be taken from all individuals who had contact with the singer—both before he was admitted to the clinic and while he was there, as well as subsequently at “Elpis.” The case file will include the records of the medical procedures performed, as well as the expected forensic medical report following the autopsy. Already, police officers from the Security Division have gone to the clinic to take statements and conduct an on-site investigation at the location where the singer was during those critical minutes.
