New details are emerging regarding the death of a 4-year-old boy at a beach bar pool in Paros, as authorities are examining video footage that reportedly captures the child’s final moments.
According to information reported by ERT, the video footage shows the child falling into the pool, his movements in the water, and what happened next.
Authorities are investigating, among other things, where the child’s parents were at the time of the incident, as well as the whereabouts of the 68-year-old business owner, who was reportedly acting as a lifeguard.
The owner’s lifeguard certification had expired
The investigation is also focusing on the pool’s operating procedures. According to information available so far, the facility had received a five-year permit in 2018, which expired in 2023 and has not been renewed since.
At the same time, the owner’s lifeguard certification is also reported to have expired, a fact that is being investigated by the relevant authorities.
The Indictment
It should be noted that charges of negligent homicide have been filed against the child’s parents and the business owner in connection with this tragic incident.
According to reports, the 4-year-old’s father is reportedly planning to take legal action against the beach bar owner, who is, in turn, pointing the finger at the parents, claiming that the child had been left unsupervised for more than half an hour.
